Spent 15 minutes adding/stacking new deck organizer. As Benno states: carefully cut sealant around panel, and piece of cake from there :D

The bolts for my existing organizer were 8x50mm, and substituting them with 8x80mm was a perfect match.

Now for adding a triple clutch :)

http://boefamily.dk/dufour385/userpix/109_IMG_0035_1.jpg I uploaded a picture how I did it. It's the same configuration they use on the 40PP. We used longer bolts. From the inside it easy to acces by opening the small plates in the sealing of the main cabin at the front side under the deckorganiser...

It's Spinlock with 50 mm sheaves. If you go about mounting a 2nd one, please post a few words or pics since I'll need to do a similar upgrade. I'm a bit concerned on how you fasten the 2nd one, if you need longer bolts and whether the nuts and washers are accessible from the interior etc. /Mattias ...

Not sure about your specific year and model, but I'm guessing Spinlock (that's what they used on the 34P in 2003/4). We went to a two-level organizer to bring a few more lines back to the cockpit. Spinlock, Harken or Lewmar are the most likely manufacturers. They all have distinct appearances, so i...

40 P reefing lines

Hi,

I am in the process of changing rigging from in-mast furling to slab furling. I have ordered a main with three reefing lines.

How long should the reefing lines be, and what diameter is recommended?

thanks :-)

40 P

Hi,

Does anyone know the brand of deck organizer used on 2003 D 40 P? I need to supplement with for three more ropes, but cannot find any brand name on my deck organisers.

The cover is a pain to remove and replace, since it is held in place with sealant (some Sika product, I'm sure). I have discovered that "almond" silicone bathroom sealant is the matching color for the original product. I've had these covers off a few times over the years as I've added more jammers ...

I got the answer from the Norwegain dufour importer:

There is a cover in the ceiling below. remove this and drill holes/bolt through; replace cover :-)

Re: To be fair..

If the sail you want is simple and you are happy not pushing any boundaries, then I can understand there are many very happy buyers. In my opinion the local sailmaker that takes on the entire job is not out of business soon, and especially if you have special requirements for a more complex sail. I...

adding more jammers

I need to add more clutches to the coach roof of my 2003 Dufour 40 P. There is a designated space to add the jammers, but how to fix them? I suspect there may be an aluminium plate I may drill/thread to fasten new clutches. Could any of you confirm this? thanks http://boefamily.dk/dufour385/userpix/...

Thanks for a detailed explanation and information. The prices seem reasonable, but I am not sure I am willing or able to undertake the process you went through :-)

In-mast mainsail

HI, Dufour 40 with inmast mainsail here. The standard negative leech dacron sail works a treat, but performance lacks. When we bought our D40 two years ago, the dacron sail was mounted, and there was also a fully battened cruising laminate neatly stored in its sailbag. The previous owner was not abl...
