Re: Generator

Tim, i don't agree: First: When you start the motor to move the boat, the system starts to produce the power, the load is enough. The aux itself is taking about 4 kw (arund 10% of the motor power) which is enough to load the crankshaft preventing overwinding. Second: i found a used one, the whole sy...

Re: Leaking main hatch

Yes me..;=) In my case, a 425 GL build 2007, the water came from inside the table. The metall foot of the table, a metallic tube, leads cables from inside the boat to the cockpit. Theoretically it's impossibe for the water to enter the foot from the top, but the rain can rinse down the cable and tha...

LiFePO4

I replaced the batteries on my GL 425 with Vetus SMF Marine Batteries 105 AH. Cheap fishermens choice. Worked well. Size 35*18*23. They fittet into the compartments. Not sure if Dufour still uses the same plastic bowls. If money is no issue i would buy LiFePO4 Batteries, a lithium battery without ri...

Solar panels

http://boefamily.dk/dufour385/userpix/431_solarpanels_1.jpg I installed two 125 WP panels here. They are from the newest generation from sunpower and i made good experiences. In the med, they produce enough power for the fridge, lights etc. Partial shadowing is no problem, i also walk on them. Ahoi...

Dynawatt

Grüezi  I'm thinking about installing a 220 V AC Generator directly on the main engine. There a two devices on the market: Dynawatt (Switzerland) https://www.dynawatt.ch/dynawatt-de/produkte/dynawatt_5000/index.php Whisperpower (Netherland) http://www.whisperpower.com/ch/4/7/72/produkte/lichtma...

You are right

I totally agree with you. I don't understand the dufour policy in quality and developemnt purposes either. :(

Don't wait

Help yourself, don't complain - it's no use. When you think from the Dufour side, they have to develop brand new models of sailing boats in short terms for a sales of maybe 400 ex. not like the car industry where they sell maybe 1 million pieces of one model. They don't develop a specific model like...

Sad but true

Mine experience is more or less the same. We have a GL 425 which needed a LOT of modifcations and enhancments before we were able to sail in waves. The newer generations of Dufour GL i saw were built in even lower quality than mine (9 Years old) and, with much smaller rig gear (Winches, booms...) Th...

Leak in the cooling system?

If the cooling "power" was slowly decreasing over a period of weeks or if you find a oily liquid then you have a leak and need professional help which evacuates the rest of the coolant and water, refill the cooling system and solder the leak.

Solarpanels : i recently installed two 140 WP panels on the deck. semi flexible panels directly from sungoldsolar in china. they made me custom made panels for USD 140 each ! they work perfect with a german mppt charging device. http://boefamily.dk/dufour385/userpix/431_IMG_7010_1.jpg Motor: I insta...

Mouldings

I can answer for a 425, but i think it is similar. Yes, the mouldings are the same but i think a change is not so easy. The wooden interieur was placed into the hull before the deck was lowered and mounted.

Switchboard

For anyone facing troubles with the original switchboard like i did, you don't need to buy original, too expenisve spare parts, the common VDO Switchboards works with the same connectors. Just choose the similar size with the same instruments. The VDO "normal" version has all the switches built in.
