Winter Protection

http://boefamily.dk/dufour385/userpix/60_Upptag_Amortina014_Beskuren_1.jpg In Sweden the normal protection is to take the boats on shore and cover it with a built roof as shown in this discussion. The last years a new cover alternative is coming strong. Shrink wrapping the boat. The wind cant catch...

Re: GPS Inmarsat

Hi. When I received my 455 this Novacom device was mandatory installed in my boat. It took the local dealer quite some work to understand the way to activate the account and fix the web address and login though Dufour had some problems to deliver the basic paperwork to attach to the service. The ser...

Powerdistribution to the autopilot

Hi. I have a Raymarine S2 autopilot and a Rategyro. Looking in the pilot computer box (the brain) there is a long row of connections. One of them is power with type 6 sqmm cables coming from the distribution panel and the autopilot switch. My understanding is that the drive unit gets the power from ...

To aproach Dufour

I do agree that the boat documentation for Dufour products is poor. One way of influencing the Dufour management is to go through the dealers. There is an annual dealer conference in La Rochelle in May 17th. If everybody called their local dealer and initiated the arguments for an other documentatio...

E120 in a pod on the table

No, we have not had any problem with this solution. There is no problem sitting at the wheel and still seeing the plotter screen. It has close to 180 degrees view angel. The problem with just one plotter in the center is the need to work with the plotter in our shallow waters. You can´t reach it fro...

Diesel generator in 455

Hi. Here in Sweden we have evaluated the possibility to install a diesel generator in a 455. There is enough space in the compartment behind the aft bulkhead in the SB aft cabin, but to bring a bulky generator to this position after the boat is built is very tricky. You probably need to bring the ch...

Displays and the cost

I can’t really see the use of waterproof and costly equipment indoors. I do acknowledge the different conditions we have to furnace our boats to fit. But if you use the waterproof (IP67) and very bright display at teh navstation you overdo it, instead you can use an old laptop and a standard flat TV...

If you go for the Ray240E you can have two waterproof handsets and speakers, one at the navstation and one in the cockpit. It can be integrated with the rest of the Raymarine instruments via Seatalk.

Re: Navsystem, a very personal issue

Did you mount this your self? I have just bought RayTech RNS 6.0 to be used at the chart table, and I am not able to figure out how to lay out the network cable from the E80 at the copit table. How can I see , and reach, the cable gates from aft stareboard cabin to the chart table? Any ideas anyone?...

Folding

This is my fourth folding propeller experience from Volvo. The first was two blade and made of cast iron, the second two blade of bronze, the third three blade and the present four blade out of bronze. I can only say that they have met my expectations as higher speed, better fuel economy better reve...

Navsystem, a very personal issue

I have invested some time (and money) to deploy an integrated navsystem in our 455 that fits the conditions here in the Baltic Sea. Sailors here don’t have to consider current and tidal changes at all. On the other hand we have to be very observant of our correct position; I would say spot on the me...

Moderator introduction

Michael, who probably due to lack of knowledge of the work involved with a forum, asked me to moderate the 455 forum. I think it is appropriate to introduce myself! Me and my wife Lis-Marie lives in Sollentuna, a suburb just north of Stockholm. We bought our Dufour 455 last summer (2007) and named h...
