I have a 2004 Dufour 40 performance. I have noticed a small amount of sideways play(less than 0.5mm) in the rudder on my boat and a similar one in the yard. Is this typical of this design or does it signify wear?
I have also noticed that the gel coat under the bearing above the teflon washer has some small gaps in it but I believe this is purely cosmetic.

our 40 is from 2007.
the first year we had some problems with our rudder, it moved under load.
It appears that there must be some play up and down, so the rudderstock can bent a bit under load.
in the beginning we had some scratches on the bottum.
after we gave some play everything went ok.
